Over the past few weeks I have noticed A LOT of things when it comes to seeing how people do their own make-up (not saying they do it wrong), but there is a few tips to help you do it better!!
There's nothing worse than passing someone and seeing their face is orange! That you can tell that they have the wrong colour on their face. There's a simple tip to help resolve this issue, firstly when shopping for a foundation ALWAYS test, try and see what it looks like BEFORE YOU BUY!
The thing I hear most is, "I brought the wrong colour, so I'll just use it" or " I didn't try it on, I just brought the first thing I thought looked like my skin colour" WAIT UP! - that is where you go wrong! Have some time to have a look at a few products at least half-an hour, ask for help, and use the testers! Sometimes they will have a person especially there to help you choose the right foundation.
When you are testing the foundation - It doesn't matter if it's liquid, mineral powder or even a mousse foundation, they are all the same when it comes to finding your correct colour.
Start off with making sure you don't have any previous foundation on in the area of: cheek to chin to neck (can just whipe it off with a tissue in that area on one side of your face). So grab a little bit and whipe it on - you should see that the foundation DISSOLVES! If it doesn't dissolve then it isn't your colour! Whipe it off and keep testing! It should look like your own skin basically.
A note to keep in mind: some mature ladies have redness over their nose and chest area its important with that you do go a colour up to cover that - but in saying that you don't want them to have a brown face and neck with white arms... all about trial and error.
Ohh and another thing - BLEND the foundation (liquid or mineral) down your decolletage, don't just leave it a clear line on the chin, blend it down!!
This is something you almost always see, as it is a hard one to resolve! But if you try these simple steps you might have fixed it for yourself (as everyone is different and unique).
1. Apply a primer on your lips - this will help with the colour bleeding out of your lip line.
2. Apply a lip liner - apply it around the line of your lips and colour the rest in. This is crazy at how much it helps, once you apply a lip liner it keeps the lipstick in place and helps when you eat/drink etc as it stains your lips, so it doesn't look that bad when you're eating or drinking.
3. Apply a chapstick - there is nothing worse when your lips a peeling and you put lipstick on top (UMM HELLO! - we can see it even more now!!) and wait till its soaked in. Plus the chapstick helps with keeping the lipstick in place.
4. Once you've applied the lipstick blot your lips - BLOT BLOT BLOT, a tissue is great for this. If you blot your lips after apply your lipstick then there will be a much greater chance it won't go all over your face!
5. Once you've applied and blotted, grab your index finger and place it in your mouth and do duck lips, pull through - this will help with lipstick going on your teeth!!
We are all different and unique and having small eyes isn't a bad thing - you've just gotta know how to work them! It can be tough, especially when it comes to colours and liners, etc. You may have small eyes and want to have a really dark smokey eye - but in fact that might not work (may make your eyes appear so much smaller). The colours that suit the smaller eyes are lighter/creamier/glittery colours, rather than blacks/greys. You want to open your eyes up rather then to make them look smaller.
1. Use lighter colours - as stated before the lighter colours work so much better for the small eyed people, just brings your eyes out more!
2. Use a brown eyeliner - not all people like a brown eyeliner, but I think they are great! Just doesn't look so harsh on smaller eyes.
3. When applying eyeliner - don't bring it across the whole eyelid or underneath, bring it across about 3/4 (3 quaters) rather than doing the whole upper lid. When applying it on the lower - DON'T put it on your water line (inner rim) as it really makes your eyes appear so so small), apply it on the lower line just in a little - about a quater.
4. False lashes - these days they're so many differen't types of lashes on the market - the ones that suit smaller eyes are the flared out lashes (larger on outter and smaller on inner) rather than something that is all the same size through, it will make your eye appear droopy and much smaller again.
I hope all these little tips help how you apply your make-up! Remember there is no wrong or right way to apply make-up as we are all differen't, but there was a few of my tips that work for me, so lets hope they work for you! I'd love to hear your feedback!
Much Love,
Rebecca xx
